My first car was '65 Ford Fairlane... but it was just a plain, unremarkable four-door with a 170 cu. in. six and a Cruise-O-Matic transmission. It's only redeeming feature was it cost me $50... although I had to do the brakes.
Mine was green.

Back in 2012 We used my Kenworth Yellow ‘65 GTO to take out a bank loan. They appraised it at $120,000 and loaned us the 110,000 we needed. Wow! I thought. I had paid $75 bucks for it in 1986. Put around $30,000 in it from ‘86 to’97 to restore it. And in reality its only worth $15-$20,000 because nothing is original in it except the firewall back on the body, the trunk lid, the frame, side windows and back glass. No numbers match. I got a ‘66 engine, ‘70 trans, and a ‘65 rear housing from an olds cutlass. Also of course the paint color gets you kicked out of the originality country club too.Last edited: Apr 25, 2020
