Nashville would be high up on my list unfortunately I don't have enough money to accomplish my goals there. Clarksville Clarksville's on the list because it's much cheaper and only 45 minutes to the north west .

Columbus Ohio is decent for freight.....I'm intrastate out of a yard about 20 minutes northeast of CMH. Taxes here, not too great..... however.

Chattanooga (not that I'm biased or anything). Its within 150 miles of Nashville, Atlanta, and Birmingham. Within 300 miles of Charlotte, Louisville, Columbia, and Memphis (350 to Cincy). Chattanooga has a long history as a transportation hub, first railroad and now trucks. It is right smack in the center of the Southern US Auto Industry (the one that is thriving with its non-union plants). Cheap fuel, business friendly, and no state income tax. Cost of living is low and quality of life is high. Summers are not too hot and it only snows once every 10 years.

I should probably add Chattanooga to my list. I'm heavily leaning towards somewhere in Tennessee in general. What types of frieght are most common there? My plan is to run flatbed part of the year and reefer part of the year .

We run dry vans. primarIly automotive freight, but we'll haul anything that fits in the trailer. We typically run our trucks outbound from TN / N GA to midwest or Baltimore or Charleston ports them backhuals back to TN. I dont know much about the flatbed market in this area, although I'm sure there are others here that can give you that info.

Memphis is a phenomenal place for truckers. I live there now. If you land a decent company driver job, or in your case, turn profits as an OO, you'll love the cheap cost of living for real
