The influenza virus is a nothing-new thing that happens every year, where as this Covid19 deal is supposedly a new thing where they were not sure what would happen (allegedly anyway). For sake of argument I'll buy that line that some extra precaution was a wise idea a couple months ago. Now though it's pretty clear it was mostly a nothing-burger and they need to do the right thing and start to unwind this hysteria and fear mongering and get everything back on track ASAP before any more damage is done.

    MSM?

I WATCH them all. Including the locals. Surely they're not all a mistake.

Well first of all they didn't hire you. They pre-approved your application to attend orientation, where you'll be further scrutinized with driving and drug tests, as well as a more thorough check on your background. If any of that doesn't look right they're sending you home.

Personally I don't like either option if the choice is between Roehl and unemployment. I'd scour Craigslist looking for a smaller outfit to work for where you can sit down face to face and talk to somebody. This might not be as easy as filling out an "app" and getting wisked off to mega-carrier hell where they'll point cameras at you all day, but you may find this tactic worthwhile if you seriously expect to find a job you can tolerate for a few years so your work history doesn't start to look too ridiculous. That would be my 2 cents on the matter.

    Mainstream media.

You'd be surprised how lock-step they all are in their messaging. That is no accident. They are all controlled by, oh, let's just call them the "big guys", who don't always have strongest incentive to tell the whole, unbiased truth about everything. Ask yourself this and try not to let is screw with your head too much: who decides what is "news" in the first place and is considered worthy enough to inform everybody about? It's kind of like the "if a tree falls in the woods" question.

Amazing that someone eligible to work would even consider unemployment. If you are eligible to work and offered a job in your field with comparable pay then you should not be on unemployment.

If I were you I would chill on unemployment for a few months, do your homework, and then just before unemployment runs out head over to CR England and lease a truck. :blackeye:

i'm thinking about it, I haul crude oil, its really kinda tanked lately LMAO. my company even offered Holly refineries its extra trailers to store crude in LMAO, its only about 3000k worth of room but thats how bad it is.
I laugh at the idea of a trucker trying to collect unemployment because I hear you need to be looking for a job, how does a trucker look for a job and not find one Lol. alas, I have a OTR tanker company that wants me, I would like to sit and collect unemployment until this crap blows over. I wonder if I can use the excuse that there are no "crude hauling" jobs?? lol.

Well for one thing I am a local driver and have no desire to go back OTR, nothing wrong with it if that's what you want to do. But Pepsi just let me go they say its because work is slowing down, but what ever that's a different story. But I have applied for unemployment, why not its not welfare. Theirs not a whole lot of local work in this area and it provides my family with an income while I take the time to find a decent paying job, oh by the way it currently is a grand per week. Nor do I want to haul Acid or Explosives both are big in this area. I have in the past don't want those worries.
