    Not statistics, but physics.

The kinetic energy of a moving object is one-half it’s mass times velocity squared. It’s the “velocity squared” part of the equation that makes it more dangerous to go faster because all that kinetic energy has to be converted to heat, sound, and crumpling metal if you have a crash.

Doubling you mass (weight) just doubles your kinetic energy. Doubling your speed quadruples your kinetic energy.

There are speed limits of 80 mph in a few states. Texas has a toll road that goes around Austin with an 85 mph speed limit.

There are a lot of companies with 75+ mph trucks. Mine does, but I know we are not hiring. Oddly enough - I don't like to drive that fast. I stick to the speed limit and I also only drive at night due to pickup and delivery schedule. It is very nice for other motorists when I pass a slow truck or a long line of slow trucks quickly then get out of the way for 90 mph crew.

I know HP Distro out of KC runs ungoverned trucks - but - I don't think they are hiring. Farmers Oil and Johnson Feed are good companies (my opinion) and run 75+.

I was running down US 75 in Kansas yesterday in the early AM and was passed by a trio of 100+ mph cattle haulers. If you really want to fly I'd say you should try to get on with a livestock company. I don't think they have to worry about HOS and I've rarely ever seen them running the speed limit.

    Good luck
