I wasn’t a fan of hotels everyday. Did it for 2 years. Rack up nice hotel points but different bed and pillows everyday sucks.

I've done overnight linehaul but swapped to local. 95% of the time it was a home daily turn so 1-3 days out is not what I did. But...

I swapped because of personal circumstances. Had a gf (now wife) that I wanted to spend more time with. You will not have a social life working nights. And unless you are dating a nurse that works the same hours, you won't have much of a personal life either.

When I made the jump to local, I took a $12,000 year paycut. If you swap to nights, will a "couple of bucks more" offset your current lifestyle?

Overall, if you can justify it to yourself, you will be dealing with less traffic and more scales shutting down when you are out. I honestly enjoyed and miss that aspect.

    Good luck.

Oh, you just go online and get a My Pillow or a $30 Amazon knockoff that you kept with your rest over night bag.

Layover runs were the shiez-nit for me. Holiday Inn in Billings MT. If you timed it right and rolled in between 5-10 AM, you got a free ticket to a 42 item breakfast buffet. PLUS a coupon that was good for 1 alcoholic or non alcoholic drink. They then gave us a third coupon worth $10 off your dinner that we used before we rolled out.

    We got hooked up.

Them boys up there in that control room make some coin. I used to spot trailers for IP. Mid 30s an hour to sit and watch it make those rolls.

I bet so. $ trickles downhill as well; I do rather well dragging their product around the state, and home daily and off weekends. (Why'd you leave?!?!) :(
