    Start doing your homework/research.

This site has a wealth of information.
Begin by taking the time to carefully read the very first post in Owner/Operator. It's long, very long and covers the last two plus years. It has phenomenal posts and a wealth of info from people who have done it all first-hand !!
Too much work? Don't want to bother with all that??

Then your sunk before you begin!!

You need, MUST HAVE a wad of cash money in your pocket before you begin any such business adventure, which you don't have!

    Realistically? $10G
    REALITY CHECK TIME !!

Why so much? You have to cover costs until revenue begins to flow.

Worst possible thing you can DO TO YOURSELF is be underfunded starting up because you would be immediately at the mercy of all the wolves and vampires out there. You'll be immediately backed into corners and at the mercy of all these scam artists who are smooth-talking you into a "Fleece/Lease".
These characters are very slick, smart, professionals who know exactly how to prey on your BIG DREAM and USE YOU, SUCK YOU DRY, MILK EVERY PENNY YOU HAVE OUT OF YOU and then laugh in your face............

WHY do you think everyone on this site calls it "Fleece/Lease" ?????
Read about it here on this site.
People have written, detailing all the slick scams companies pull, lying straight to your face, all the time smiling, then laughing at you the moment you turn around..........

Spend at least 100 hours READING the various topic/sections on this site. YOU do your own research!! Do your own homework!!

Good, honest, men and women who have YEARS of hands-on, been-there-done-that experience have taken the time to write/advise people like you who write in asking for advice.
Why ask this group for advice and then ignore it?

Right now, what you DON"T KNOW would fill a library. What you DO KNOW doesn't amount to much at all. Acknowledge THAT and you'll be at your first step in moving into the world of Owner/Operator.

I understand your dream, I respect your dream and I want to encourage you. I want you to be successful which is why I'm trying to write and tell you the blunt, bare-knuckle truth. I know it's not what you want to read..........

Bottom line. ..... You'll do what you want.

I, and everyone else who has taken the time to respond to you and all the others who write and ask for advice only want to see you successful. Nobody wants to step on your dream but right now you're not ready........................

I hear y’all and appreciate you greatly. I will continue to save up as much as I can and do some more research. I want my own truck but I want to do it right.

Even if freight was paying well right now, where would you be getting your loads? Obviously things are slow going at the moment, but when freight resumes what are your options for bringing in money to make your payments? Are you looking to go to a company that finds you freight and you pay them money to do that? Or do you have the option to find your own freight? Direct freight? Broker freight? Possibly build your own trailer loads with multiple LTL freight? These are a few things that you may want to look into before putting your feet to the flames. Bc even if freight rates were “Banging” right now, nobody is going to just hand you hot loads. Use this downtime effectively, try to start setting yourself up, so when you do pull the trigger your aiming in the correct direction.

My wife has a saying "when wisdom speaks listen". Be patient & make wise decisions it will save you a lot time from backtracking. As stated before a lot of wisdom being given out on this forum. Hopefully you have a friend who is an owner already. Who can mentor you while you're building your plan & business. All the best to you in your journey. Remember you live in a great country with great opportunities.

And op the 10g cash he said is bare minimum. Not available credit but cash in hand. If you don't have cash then i doubt you have access to a big line of credit and that's a slippery slope anyways
