Does it actually work?

It works. The trick to a clean nice finish is to do an inch of the crack at a time. Do not proceed until that one inch crack has absorbed the liquid. If you try to do more than one inch at a time, it will dry before it reaches fully into the cracks. When you work on one inch of the crack, you may have to push lightly back and forth on the crack (or the sides) until it absorbs the liquid.

Yes, it works well. Just follow the instructions and park with the sun on your windshield.

The windshield repair kits do work on small chips/stars/cracks if you do it right. I had to do one twice to get it right. Still on the same windshield 2 years later.

Doesn't that leave like a discoloration or a weird mark on it?

You can still see the chip. Just keeps it from becoming a crack.

Tried that once, didn't do anything.

Think the main problem is that windshields are made of laminated glass. Something that cracks the glass may not necessarily puncture the plastic laminate so wont get into the crack. An actual chip would likely have the laminate punctured though.

Hey, if it doesn't work your only out $10 and it's easily enough for more then 1 job. No reason you can't try more then once or on different damage in the future.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I tried one and it didn't work. I was was told it was because I use a lot of RainX on the glass and that the epoxy would not bind without stripping all of the Rainx off. Maybe true. Or not. But that's what the guy at the glass shop told me when I got it fixed.

i have used them, it never seems to fail that i get a rock chip within weeks of putting in new windshields. you can normally still tell there there but there less noticeable and keeps them from turning into a crack.

    PE_T and loudtom Thank this.
