Using the stock market to gauge the general health of the economy is a grave mistake. Due to central planning and money printing by the Fed, the market is completly divorced from reality right now. The fact that 30 million have applied for unemployment in the last month is a better indicator of the economy's condition than artificially pumped up stock prices due to fresh-off-the-printer fiat. This country's economic woes are just starting and its going to get much worse before it gets better. I'd encourage everyone to dig a little deeper than the MSNBC headlines to get a reality-based analysis of the dire consequences of the Fed's backstopping of junk-grade corporate debt.

The Dow will see 12000-15000 over the next 18 months. The realization that this virus and all over reaction to it wasn’t just a passing winter storm is slowly starting to settle in. One by one you’re seeing a different faction of our economy implode each and every day. The government tells tenants they don’t have to pay rent and now landlords are going broke. People just don’t understand what’s coming. My only reservation is whether we reach a point where society itself breaks down and it’s every man woman and child for themselves. We’re about three steps away from that scenario and I don’t think all the government bail outs and no matter how much money they print is going to save us from it. You can’t just remove industry Across the board for several months in this country and then just flip it back on like a light switch. We’re all about to learn how to intertwined things really are. I’m just hoping for 3-6 months, as that’s how much time I need to get myself fully situated to self sustain myself indefinitely.

It may be OPENING. But two souls to buy 5 dollars each is not that business going to keep.

We are opening outselves church this week and bowling after the 18th. I reviewed the church restrictions and figure nope. Not going to put myself in that position for three hours. Im already catching a little bit of odd incidents as my system fights off problems.

On the other hand Ive got a few thousand in business pending just as soon that range opens up.

I don’t quite share those guys sentiment for the future but yes things are certainly still bad and will be for a little while. I actually am a believer it can come roaring back.

Hell man get going on it. It takes about a month to get your authority and stuff. In the mean time start doing some light duty sales stuff even though you can’t officially book a truck yet.

How much cash and line of credit resources do you have?

    Hey Guys,
I am considering becoming a broker and I am in Texas. Can anyone out there give me some advice on how to price shipments to the shipper? Or would this be a trade secret and one of those things the school of hard knocks teaches you?

Thanks In Advance for any feedback.

I'll give you the same advice I give everyone. If you've never done this before, learn on someone else's dime. Past that, dig through these forums. There's a ton of information out there.

    Sage advice.

I am a dropout. All my education comes from showing up, willing to work, and getting paid to learn.

You want to go to diesel school but cant afford it? Walk into your nearest diesel shop and ask if you can sweep, take out the barrels, change the jetwash fluid and do teardowns. In a few years youll be on the assembly side while the other kid is still paying wyotech.

Same for welding or plumbing or hvac.. any trade. Walk in ready to play helper. Theyll pay you to get learned.

Can't emphasize this enough. The thing is, especially in this industry, it's a hell of a learning curve as someone who's trying to manage their own business especially if you're coming in unprepared. That's why it makes way more sense, from both the perspective of a broker or an owner operator, to come in armed with industry knowledge gained from working with someone else.

Too often, people just want to jump into owning trucks, or being a broker after watching a few videos or reading a few articles on line thinking that it can't be that difficult. They don't even know if this is something that they want to do. It's one of those things that frustrates me, because we see it on here play out hundreds of times. And for every one who has a plan there's one more who's willing to listen to advice, but there's also 150 who are just *convinced* that they know better than the folks around here who have been doing this for years.
