So, wife wants new kitchen cabinets. As it was a "needs fixing soon" item when we moved in we decided to pull the trigger. We ordered the cabinets and I'm assuming they are going to be delivered by an LTL company.
Anyone here ever do that type of delivery? What can I do to to make the delivery easier for the driver? What should I expect to do/need as the receiver?
Receiving residential deliveries.

Have a truck or trailer to put the stuff in it only comes of the truck not carried in the house the driver only wants to be there for 30 mins. Inspect the products and note any damage

Had a new head on a pallet delivered. Estes Driver called 10 min. ahead, had a pup with a tailgate, rolled it right onto my pick up. You might want to have them dropped in front of garage or in the driveway. Menards delivered cabinets with a dually pick up/ trailer, dropped in driveway outside. They also delivered drywall, subfloors in a large box truck, w/ tailgate. Two of them stacked it all in my garage.

R&L delivered to my house on two separate occasions for remodeling projects. Once was bringing glass tile and the second time was bringing a bathroom vanity and tub. Both times they sent a straight truck with liftgate and I got the same driver each time. He had no problem running the freight up my driveway and into my garage, and I tipped him well since I've done the same job and work in the same business.

Residentials are a different battle every time. It comes down to things like whether or not you have a gravel driveway that’s a mile long, and what the freight looks like as far as how its packed. If the skids are 8 feet long and 1000 lbs it’s coming off 1 piece at a time.Texas_hwy_287, Rideandrepair, BJW and 2 others Thank this. -
but DO NOT feed them or provide the beers BEFORE the delivery!
after they work thier butts off, tell them thanks and good bye!!
but if you "feel" you must pay them, THEN you call for the pizza and take out the beers.
or just pop a few frozen pizzas in the oven.
they ain't gonna work hard, why pay them with better pizza?
and the beer can be slightly warmed too, they won't care...it's FREE......
(can't say whether or not my posting in in jest, i feel like throwing a kegger myself, and tick off the city/state officials on this social distancing BS)not4hire, Rideandrepair and ZVar Thank this. -
If they have been shipped UPSF then you might as well get ready to buy a new set of cabinets.
Why do i say this even in this tight feast or famine situation? Because it just isn't right what we're doing. i would rather steer you to a company that actually does things the right way then to lose you as a customer permanently.Last edited: May 6, 2020

Thanks everyone. It's just a typical suburban home. Concrete driveway that's abot 75 foot from road to garage door. I was hoping it was going to be at least brought in the garage, but that's just me being lazy.
I have a hand truck so I can easily pull them in myself though.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
