If you noticed in the video from Mexico, they do one additional thing for their runaway truck ramps.

There is a big wide red line on the highway that usually starts 1/4 to 1/2 mile before the ramp, (not that far ahead in this video tho) and is in the center of the lane they should use to hit that ramp. The red line guides them into the ramp.

They have runaway ramps on both sides of some highways. Felt weird running down the center lane, and all of a sudden theres red lines on both sides of you.

This is why I tell newbies to not worry about how fast anyone else is going down the hill. Those flying either A) know the hill much better than you B) are trying to 'prove' something C) are empty D) are newbs also and not who you want to be following.

Most often, you can only go down a hill too fast once....

Noticed what they said was #1. The 4 wheeler didnt care and kept going. Sad that many out there could care less about their fellow man.

The last video had to be Sandstone Mountain. That’s the only one I can remember that has runaway ramps on I-64.

Funny, I had an ### wipe riding my butt down Wolf Creek Pass just a few days ago. Literally less than 10 feet off my DOT bumper through the snow shed, because even though I was empty and the road was dry, I know the 30 mph sign for that curve is a real 30 mph curve. He finally got past me and blasted on over 60 mph with some more 35-45 mph curves to go.

I only feel a little bad that I was kinda hoping to see him in the San Juan River on one of those stretches where there's no guardrail.

Engine break all the way down, never touch my brakes, 100% of the time. I go the posted decline speed or whatever speeds I feel comfortable. As stated here more than once, pride and arrogance mixed...will get you in trouble faster than anything in trucking. If the decline speed is 35mph for trucks, then I do 35. Another trucker wants To roll down that hill at 70 mph with 80,000 pounds on his back, he can go around me and be my guest.

Some of those are too vocal for my taste. Im sure our Maker already knows a trucker is sliding towards heaven the hard way uphill.

Problems begin when some ramps are just not long enough. There are some that are #### near vertical because they have to be.

But lets not forget our dear speed king killing a hurting many off of several ramps he could have used for 12 miles towards Denver some time ago.

Just saw two trucks apparently just after hitting the ramp last month, one was on cabbage at the very top of the ramp another forget where. These are our fellow drivers, uh reason I stay away from all of them.
