I am considering applying to drive for the Pottsville, PA Walmart account. I used to work that account a long time ago when they first brought in outside (non-Walmart) drivers. I have a few questions for anyone working that account.
First, what is the parking situation? When I ran it last outside drivers were not allowed to park their trucks on the DC property for 10 hour breaks. They were also not allowed to park personal vehicles at the DC like Walmart divers can. This made the account very difficult to run. We would have to park at a nearby truck stop or safe location and start our clocks before driving to the DC. Since they would take hours to dispatch us that meant we were burning a huge portion of our hours every day before we would even get dispatched. Has that changed? Can you park your truck and/or personal vehicle at the DC? If not, how long does it usually take you to get dispatched once you get there?
Second, when I ran that account it was as SOON as they started bringing in outside drivers. Everyone at the DC, drivers and office personnel alike, hated having outside drivers. They basically though we were taking jobs away from them (even though we only hauled reefer). They openly treated us as badly as they possibly could to try to get rid of us. They even tried not allowing outside drivers to use any restrooms for a while, but that didn't work (I mention that as an example of how extreme it got). Have they lightened up at all? I'm assuming they have. I can't imagine that insanity has continued for this long, but I want to check before I apply.
Thanks for any info.

Why would they let you park your personal vehicle there? Your not a Walmart driver. You are a contractor. And walmarts plan is to get get rid of the outside carriers and bring in the private fleet because they are tired of poor service and trailers getting tore up.
-
Why don't you apply to Walmart directly? All you need is 30 months of experience.
Capacity Thanks this. -

Working walmart directly means three week thorough orientation/training. Three day thorough driving assessment 30 to 40 min you driving each day. They make sure you can shift/ pretrip/ backing correctly each day. Fail the final day 3 test? Your last shot is day 4. It will be a yes or a no after your done. If fail you wait 6 months to reapply. The next two weeks your with a training observing you and paperwork/delivery training. They have a long list policies to abide by or your gone. Slip seating two to three trucks a week. Sleeper area I wouldn't sleep in. Strict phone policy. No watching videos while driving. No talking on phone more 10minute on drive line one touch dial. Pay is well. Uniform they give stays on from the time u arrive to work to when you leave for hometime/sleeperberth.

I worked at the Pottsville,pa Walmart DC
Back in 2018 I didn’t do it for very long too much time sitting with my thumb up my butt at the stores. When I worked there swift drivers could do 10 hour break on premises, actually swift had there own office too. I don’t know about bringing your personal vehicle there though.
