Andrew, what state are you based out of? Just thinking I might have some phone numbers for insurance agents I can give you?
Why won't somebody give me an insurance quote

10 days is a lazy insurance agent/broker.
Don't even want to think how long it would take for that agent to add a certificate holder.
My agent got things done. Quote in 24 hours and adding a cert holder took an hour at most.clausland Thanks this. -

when I got my quote I didn't have my dot # yet. I told the ins agent I was thinking about getting my own numbers but if ins. was to high I wasn't got to get them. she took my truck info. my drivers lic. # an how long I have had my cdl. they made up some numbers to give me a ruff idea what it would cost. it was higher than what I paid when I did get my numbers.
Chubby Fly and clausland Thank this. -
I can tell you, that my quote with a 1.5 year CDL vs when I tried again after 2 years was quite a bit different.
My suggestion if you dont have a cdl is go drive for one of the big carriers to get your cdl and get 2 years on the license. -
You get the insurance filed with FMCSA for 2 weeks before they approve the authority. As soon as you file for authority your phone will start ringing from people who want be your insurance agent, your pro rate license guy, you other guy, etc. Hint: Join OOIDA and they will file the process agents for free, you need a contact person in every state you operate in so that a local person who wants to sue you can have the papers delivered to a process agent in that state. Good luck, it might seem hard to get in business, but if you do not do it correctly, you will find it more difficult to get out of business. I recommend getting Kevin Rutherfords course on going into a trucking business. He covers everything, in trucking, but the most important is TAXES. or in a couple years you will be broke, but also owe IRS thousands in past due taxes.

Finally got a quote and am I crazy for thinking it’s stupid high? A little under $32k a year?? Off the top of my head that is $2600 a month?
