Since some states have recently reopened or partially reopened GA and TX has gas demand picked up?. I was wondering about
this as that’s what I want to do rather than otr. Not planning on doing it now I talked with a couple guys who said with the steep drop in demand they are not hiring. Besides not hiring those that are working are only doing 3 to 4 days and working 8 hours a day rather than the normal 10-12. As much as I would rather do local gas tanker I’m not going to do it if I won’t make the kind of money I’m looking to make. I’m going to see how things go with ending restrictions before I sign on with anybody.

I'd wait for the dust to settle, two of the biggest fleets out here in Southern California laid off alot of drivers. They still had to cut down hours and days as well. When they do rehire of course experienced fuel haulers are gonna get picked up first. This "pandemic" has been the only thing I've ever seen faze hazmat tankers. Even for us on the cryogenic side its slowed down, no layoffs though so that good and we still get our guaranteed 40hr. Other than that you will love fuel hauling, it's a great gig.

Well CA is still under lockdown but some states have recently reopened. I don’t live in CA I’m in the Northeast. Even though it’s gonna take awhile to recover I do believe if lockdowns are lifted gas demand will pickup. I’m going to see between the fall and holidays if the lockdown ends. But GA which reopened I read had a huge influx of visitors, so I was curious if demand for gas increased. I’ve Ben doing otr 2 years and I’ve had enough of it.

Trust me when I say people are out and about and fed up with this "lockdown". Besides this is the car capital of the world if we struggle I'm #### sure others struggle as well.

True others are struggling and this is the car capital. When you say people are out and about depends where you are. The northeast I don’t see very many out and about. But Atlanta yes, St. Louis yes just to name 2 places I’ve seen lots of traffic although not like before lockdown. I don’t want to do otr anymore I want to do gas tanker.

I have noticed a certain company with red and black trucks have been down on loads. They park 5 near me, usually those 5 are out for 2 shifts 7 days a week. It’s not uncommon for me to see 3 in the yard now.

Well 1/2 The people don’t have any money and if they do have money their probably scared...

Then factor in the second wave this fall/winter and I’m not sure gas demand is gonna get back to pre covid levels for a while

Do you recommend I wait till next spring to start hauling gas?. I have been at swift 2 years, long enough and my second year has gone down the tubes.

We seem to be getting off topic. The whole point of this thread is to see if there is an increase in gas demand in areas recently reopened or partially reopened.
