There’s been some damage from the previous 2 owners that has gone unaddressed. The first is long deceased, I assume they pulled a van and got it tangled high up on the sleeper.

The last guy claims he hit a deer, but the damage I’m skeptical of. Also him punching the side of the sleeper -in anger over a traffic accident - but the knuckle marks are right by the sleeping wife’s head position on the sleeper.

I’d guess the bumper has been’touched’ a few times. Hence the broken bracket mount below that I discovered . . .

So - off to the shop we go. Weld bracket, new hood pivots, re-core radiator, replace all coolant lines, thermostats, water pump - and now would be a good time to reseal diamond gasket on front cover and run the overhead.

Oh - and , that’s right - replace the bumper.

I might start using them - because after the THIRD trip to Chrome Slop Mafia, I’m done.

Sold me brackets for the bumper that fit a 389 - and no solution for a 379. I’ll have them made.

Returned hub cap covers. Wrong size.

No interest in getting it right the first time.

On trip one - a company guy was in there buying 2 little LED bulbs. Comes back in - “they don’t work” - it’s a 2018 truck - customer discussion ensues - cab ECM will show fault code for low impedance - wires may need switched.

He paid cash and they refused a cash refund - that’s when the guy got HOT.

Trip 3 - today - same sales guy lining up a 2017 with LED marker lights . I hipped the guy to potential issues. Luckily he owns the rig.

None of us likes damage and especially damage from a previous owner. That said - being a good businessman also takes patience, repair or replace safety and wear items first. Cosmetic second and when time is available. The setup will look really nice once complete and with the added lighting and quik connects for your flags will be great for safety.

I've never dealt with the Chrome Mafia before, mainly because I didn't own equipment that deemed outfitting. I have heard the stories though and the stories aren't all that great and drivers do have a choice to shop elsewhere.

The fact I had to learn how to install hub covers and lug nuts may tell you how little I’ve spent on ‘bling’ for the truck so far.

Do they make some kind of air rise bracket thingamajiggies for you low slung bumper guys to raise the bumper and avoid potholes and steep driveways?

That’s when you go ridiculous low - I went from 18” to 20” - about as far as I dare.
