Picked up these airplane engines . Shipper said they require chains to be crossed? Is this legal? And what does this accomplish?

Yes it is legal but you should have chafing protection if the chains touch.
I am surprised that they allowed you to tie to the upper frame support above the frame suspension.
The long chains as you have them allow your load to have a soft ride on its tires as well as the upper frame suspension

My hook ends were to big for the chain holes. I asked if i could wrap around frame and they said no problem.

I redid chains to spread out binders so they not so close together.

Looks good as it is..... You can add protection between your chains if you'd like.....I do sometimes but its not required.

Legal and It dampens the shock and vibration to the cradle-car and engines. RR does the same thing with stuff like that.

Ya, I knew those engine always get tarped.

The forklift operator wont help you get the tarps draped over the load?

    Dave_in_AZ and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
