Does your automatic transmission ever quit on you right when you're coming out of a stop at a light?

I never had that happen. The DT-12 will come out of gear all the time when driving and you run the cruise control or take your foot off the pedal. So far I never had one do that because of being cold.

When the engine and transmission can talk to each other they can work together as one. I think that what they mean when they say the transmission can control the engine. The transmission is telling the engine to help by turning on engine brake.

Yeah, it seems to get confused. It wants to do it's own thing in regards to shifting, but it doesn't realise what amount of throttle you have applied untill it is in mid-shift, and then tries to back-peddal and do something else, in mid-shift. Which just makes a mess with you sitting there like an idiot.

Never had it happen to me, but I've learned to have plenty of clearance before I do pull out somewhere.
Mash the fuel pedal and it sits and thinks about it for a good second or so before responding.
If I mash the pedal on the right side it's because I want it to go NOW.

That’s nothing a competent driver can’t accomplish himself.

I noticed that with mine. It’s got an annoying tendency to fall on its face.

    jammer910Z and skellr Thank this.

I have one of the few eaton 18 manual transmission trucks that Walton still has. he has been buying eaton ultra-shift plus 18 speed garbage for a while now. my truck has 108K on it, if he sells or trades it, I very well might leave. I'm not really willing to drive garbage. I know of at least several other milk haulers that still buy BRAND NEW manual 18 speed trucks.

I really have no use for these pieces of junk. it shifts too late in the lower gears, over-reving the engine to the point of throwing the overspeed alarm.... on a regular basis. the high side gears, it shift too early and lugs the crap out of the engine. all of the newer trucks are paccar MX13, lugging that little wind up toy with a full load of milk, literally running it at 1,100 rpm is not very effective..... you need to upshift 1,600 rpm not 1,400 rpm.

I have concluded at least for farm pickup work, they do NOT save fuel.... they get the same or worse. the only reason he is buying them, is so he can hire a new group of meatheads, that cannot shift and shouldn't be driving anyways.

manual mode..... just B.S. just give me a stick and a clutch, and I am a happy man.

I'm getting 7.8 MPG with my DT-12 auto shift and not every trying to get MPG. You guys are missing out driving those manual transmission still. I know some driver won't give up the manual transmission but I sure am enjoying this auto shift.

Interesting, a guy in a nice Pete or KW hood does that and he's a "supertrucker."

To be fair, that's kinda the flipside of the coin which is calling literally every new driver a "steering wheel holder"
