I may have to make some calls on Tuesday (as Monday is a holiday) to see how much it would really cost to just refurbish the one-box. I might be able to save 10k or more.

If you plan on trucking for the foreseeable future just find a good deal and buy yourself a brand new son of a gun.

You’ll be glad you did. Won’t spend a penny more and will have 1% the headache.

I would start shopping for a new truck, but you might buy more problems.

see if the dealer will stand by his diagnosis, if it does not fix you don’t pay.

Mannnn. If you know your truck real well, maybe you keep it. But what the heck is a one box? Is that Freightliner for dpf or something?

I’d get a N14 or a Detroit 60, and roll. Stuff like this.

Semi Truck 2000 Freightliner Century - cars & trucks - by owner -...

i really like the Gen 1 Volvo’s. Best built trucks I’ve seen. $6k for this one

volvo - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale

of course these Chicago trucks will have some rust. If you can find one of these in Dallas, Atlanta, arizona ...come on! $15k for this one

    2000 Volvo VNL 660 - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive...

1993 Kenworth, no abs, no nothing. Straight truck, $6500

1993 International Semi Truck - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle...

You rebuild pre emission trucks, because they run, anything newer just keep flipping them over

My local kw dealer is actually the same labor rate as the independents for the stuff that I can’t fix, but they have the parts in stock

    .

I could be wrong but if I remember
    @runningman0661
just went through this on a Freightliner a while ago.

I don't remember the outcome but I'm pretty sure it wasn't even 'close to 16K.

Yeah, that would be great, but I doubt they’ll stand by their diagnosis. They’ve already worked on it twice before and it hasn’t fixed the problem. Man, these mechanics either don’t know what they’re doing or they’re trying to rip me off.

I’m seriously thinking about getting a brand new truck and forgetting about all the truck problems even if it’s just for 2-3 years. Hahaha.
