Since you run CA you don’t have the option of “making it run”, if you catch my drift. If I were in your shoes I’d at least see what you can get out of it as is and think about moving on to a different one. Realistically how long until you’re looking at an overhaul if you did spend the money and fix this one?

So, a piece of black tape over the light won't work? Tip of the iceberg, my friend. Like others say, probably best to get rid of it. Problem there is, who would take it?
PE_T Thanks this. -

"One box" sounds like it belongs with muffler bearings and blinker fluid.

One box has DPF and SCR( for particulates and nitrogen oxides reduction) in 1 unit.
2013 is better than earlier, but later ones are better (more reliable)yet.
The 2018 I drive needs tires on the steer axle. Other things aren't serious enough to need attention. National lease since 2010 at my outfit.PE_T Thanks this. -
10% power loss, that’s not too bad, you say. I sure wouldn’t spend 16 k on it, not even 6k, for that matter. I’d run it, while looking for another. Somewhere between now and then, the right deal, or another major repair, will make the choice clear. Meanwhile I’d be checking around, don’t let them know your anxious, make them work for your bussiness, make your best deal on a newer or new one, then mention the trade in, to seal the deal. That way you’ll know all the true numbers.
Midwest Trucker and PE_T Thank this.
