Seeking knows and advice to my complicated situation

If you are on probation that is a big problem for any trucking company. They know at a moment's notice you can catch a technical violation and be put back in jail. Fortunately that is coming to an end. The system places great importance on you working, so you should be able to get some cooperation from a judge allowing you to work locally. Doubt you can travel far on probation. This is a baby step deal You get a judge to grant you some leeway, then work hard and the next time it will be easier. But as people have said on here, you are not looking good with a second felony, especially having a child. It shows you do not have your priorities in the right place, and trust would be a factor. Most companies will take these things on a case by case basis, except those that go into Canada. They know you can't cross and won't hire you. You can get a hazmat anytime, and it will help you a great deal. It means you have basically passed a TSA background check, and only have some minor crimes, nothing deadly or abusive. Find whatever job you can for the first year, no matter how horrible, because you have screwed up royally. You have to pay your dues. This isn't McDonalds. Driving a commercial vehicle is serious business, in many ways.

If I 'caught a felony charge' it means I committed a felony.
That is not an easy thing to do if you are just living as a regular person, is it?

It isn't like catching a cold.

 

If you get lucky enough to find a driving job,
Be prepared to eat dirt and be treated like crap.
In other words, do all the #### work the other drivers
Don't want to do.
You will be at the bottom of the barrel wherever
You go.

Whoever hires you,knows you have no other options.
That information in the wrong dispatchers hands could
Mean big trouble for you.

I'm just trying to keep you from catching another felony.

 

Even worse. With that phrasing I have to wonder how many felonies he made and didn't "catch".

 

I think, perhaps, some of the places he is trying to get hired on to may think the same thing.

Seems like a bad risk situation.

 

I have caught some flack over my last comment on twitter. I want to make it 100% clear I was not kicking the OP while they are down. I was addressing the choice of words that makes me ill at ease on the OPs mindset. I want everybody that desires to drive a truck to have a good long career doing so. The thing is when I see prison and hood lingo being used I can't help but wonder about the person. Give that comment the OP made some serious thought! While waiting on time to pass on the effects of one felony, the OP (insert prison/hood lingo here) for a 2nd new felony! This OP might want to give some serious thought to getting out of this industry!

 

Agreed. A lot of people wanting to get into this industry don't have any idea just how heavily scrutinized a driver's past really is.

Every time you take a piss, someone wants to know about that time 20 years ago that you took a little puff at your best buddy's stag party.

One thing this thread has taught me, that I admit I was totally ignorant of. Felonies are contagious?

How the he77 do you "catch" a felony,?

That is lingo that allows the perp to *avoid responsibility*.
