You think they brought him his bills to sign while he was walking the dog?

Doesn't matter it's on duty, do you think they pulled his truck up shut the doors?

    Trucker61016 Thanks this.

There is no regulation stating that a minimum of 15 minutes on duty must be logged for loading. Many people repeat truckstop counter stories as gospel.

It was 15 minutes before elogs (the shortest entry on the book) but it still remains, signing bills closing doors etc. is on duty.

Still not true. Before elogs anything less than 7.5 minutes could simply be flagged.

And yes the things you mentioned are on duty, but you log the actual time it takes. There is no 15 minute minimum like you keep saying.

U must show at least 15 minutes for arriving and the time to back into a dock.....so technically that's a violation if a dot wanted to nitpick...

Well okay, but then when that dot officer says show me doing a full pre trip in 7.5 minutes, and if you cant then he'll right you a ticket for falsifying a log, because you wrote a pretrip for 7.5 minutes and couldn't demonstrate it to him......better to CYA and show some actual realistic time....

We weren’t talking about a pretrip. And all I said is this 15 minute minimum that everyone is talking about simply doesn’t exist. Just log it as you do it. Most places we go we’re not even allowed to open the lids on our trailer. So I will log on duty while checking in, off duty while waiting for my appointment, and 1 minute of driving to pull onto the scale, and then off duty for about an hour while they load and close up the trailer. Why would I want to log a minimum of 15 in that case when I’m not on duty for even close to 15 minutes?

TokyoJoe and Bean Jr. Thank this.

As has been discussed in this thread, please show the regulation stating this. Backing into the dock is all done under "driving" then I go off duty. Why falsify my logs and lie and say I was on duty when I was not?

TokyoJoe, Long FLD and Bean Jr. Thank this.

If you're backing into a dock , its on duty yard move, you are responsible for the truck until either dispatch or the customer relieves you of duty, ie they say we'll call you when finished, etc.....ive always shown my time arriving, backing...all that is on duty, not driving.....
