Now imagine the same accident, but the driver was 60' behind the trailer setting up his 2nd triangle.

    Yeah,,,,

Really need a class action that anyone that cannot visually recognize a truck should have their license revolked. Remember that Tesla that broadsided a trailer at full tilt because it didn't "see" it?

How long had the trucker been parked there? We do not know, don't be too fast to judge him, he may not have been there long enough to require triangles. We some times tend to draw opinions without all the facts. In this case the ELOG could be is best friend.

Another thing to think about. Everyone saying he has up to 10 minutes before he is required to put triangles out. That would be if the driver was actually having an emergency breakdown and not just wanting roadside fast food. You can't just stop in a travel lane and throw on your hazards to go get food. Even stopping on the shoulder for non-emergencies is illegal but that gets overlooked 9 times out of 10. Now he may have had a legitimate emergency to be stopped like he was. Unfortunately there is so much stupidity on the road today I always assume the worst. It's also disappointing that people regularly run full speed into fixed objects on the roadway as much as they do, but we all know this is the world we live in and we have to account for these things. That's why I say even parking on the shoulder or in a turn lane for food is risky because if someone departs their lane and hits you I believe it's your fault.

Guys they said the truck was stopped, not parked. He could have been stopped at a light.

I hit traffic in Memphis today. I was stopped in the middle of the road. But I was not parked.

    Don't matter to me.

If you can't see a stopped truck,
You won't be able to see a little girl chasing a ball into the street,
Or an old lady pushing a stroller.

Hitting a stationary truck should be legally considered the same as hitting a bridge abutment. The old "that tree just jumped out at me." excuse only seems to apply to parked trucks.

I see it all the time! "If you're parked in the breakdown lane, it's your fault!" Excuse me? If a car can't keep it in the lane, why is the fault of the guy in the breakdown lane? If we were going down the road and he swerved into my lane it would be his fault, but make it a breakdown lane, he gets a pass?

I saw the video. I also saw power lines going in front of this truck. Couldn't tell if they had street lights on them.
