NEW GARMINS WITH 7”, 8” AND 10” DISPLAYS

It was just released... I haven’t used it much yet myself... so I’m sure it’s being worked on and not close to the final version... but a free app that is trying to serve all drivers seems like a good thing... better than google, if it’s truck specific, and cheaper than Garmin or RM

I like my RM... but I know a few drivers that aren’t spending or can’t spend too much on a dedicated GPS solution.

 

Seems kinda high dollar and it’s only a GPS.

 

You can get a iPad for that price, have better specs, longer battery life, and all the functionality of an ipad. Hard pass Garmin.

 

I got an email for this new tablet version. Expensive but has some good features. Directions right to the docks. They are using a different map supplier and it updates daily! I was going to buy the Dezl 780 as it is on sale dirt cheap but I think I will wait a while to see how people like the new one.

Except Google maps is not for trucks.

 

My 780 lasted about 3 yrs before battery died and even with a cord it wont function anymore . The batteries were not ment to be replaced , found a video I may try . I have been using phone and Google maps , maybe had 2 times where it took me into neighborhood but 99% of the time it's great. Sounds like a second hand iPad might be the way to go .

 

Make sure it has cell chip in it. GPS chip is attached to it. Wifi only models do not have GPS.

 

Too bad thst google msps does not hsve truck routing. It can get you into serious trouble.
