it's a love/hate relationship that's been ongoing for three generations. back in the 90's when I acquired the land from my in laws, we used to be able to head to the local farm supply and buy dynamite. we had some good years blowing stuff up until 9/11 happened. then they changed the rules and it's near impossible to get, so we switched to fertilizer/diesel fuel mix and shoot the jug with a rifle.

they are quite the creature, only 2 species on the planet alter the environment to suit their needs...us and them. I never completely eradicate them, just have to keep them from flooding the farmable land to keep my rentors happy.

it's been years of fun setting up blinds, then tear into the dam by hand to make the water run...the sound of the running water sets them off and they will work night and day to make it stop. that's when we plunk 'em. I leave a couple pairs to keep them around, my boys have picked up the torch and now it's them that go out and do the dirty work. we keep the carcasses and give them to my outfitter friend, he uses them for bear bait and makes some pretty good bank guiding American hunters that pay good money to shoot a few Yogis.

Haldex Lifeseal brake pots. I can't say enough good things about them. no more caging bolts, 5 year warranty on bladders and springs. tell your owner/mechanic to switch to them. they are only a few sheckles more than the regular style pots but if you ever have to cage one, it's well worth it. just need a 3/4" wrench and in seconds you're on your way.

That sounds pretty cool!!! I'm sure it would work really well to, as running water does get them working up a frenzy.
