    I don’t get it. Back off a little bit let him pass. I do it all the time. I see a truck struggling I back off. As a LTL driver we have to get places more then a OTR driver. I back off and I still make my times or faster. Like I said I don’t get it. Man if that drive passing on the shoulder got caught. That’s a wreck less ticket might be a peace to his CDL if he got caught.

    Any of you guys ever pull doubles in the city? Like on a delivery route? I did that today. We had a food bank that was to big for a 50' trailer, but wasn't to big for a set of doubles. So I took a set of doubles to the food bank. It was a bit of work. Had to break the set down. Back one trailer into a door. Then unhook from that trailer, grab and reposition the converter dolly. Then grab the other trailer, shove that into another dock door.

    Then I had to do delivery paper work and they unloaded me etc etc.

    When that was done I took one trailer and parked it along the fence facing out wards on the property. Then went and grabbed my converter dolly, got that unit in position, then I went and grabbed my other trailer out of the dock and then hooked the entire set up together and then snaked the whole set up back to the yard.

    You can see me at both docks. That's my front trailer on the left.

    @double_r

    So listen to this, end of last week and early part of this week I was covering for Mr.J doing his Volume runs. Anyhow last Friday I get to our Macedonia store and one of the managers and one of the employees unloads there skids and I'm talking like before I was even in the door the dock plate was already down and they were going to town.

    So this past Tuesday I get there again and before I was even in side boom I hear the dock plate hit and there already going to town.

    So of course there's 10 miscellaneous totes I've got to sort through all 124 of S. Euclids Eaches to get the 67 Macedonia miscellaneous and of course a mix pallet that needs sorting out and separating.

    So while I'm trying to make sense of all that, there stock boy who's about 70 years old, was going to town taking off there pallets, and I think they only had maybe 9 skids that stores not that busy.

    So anyhow he's working and I'm working trying to sort that skid. So once I get it all sorted and segregated out I get all that straight and he's done pulling all the pallets some of them were only waste high they weren't all big enormous falling over ones.

    Anyhow I'm getting ready to leave and the 70 year old clown who's the stock boy starts yelling at me about how it's not his job to unload my truck. Now all of you keep in mind I never not once ever asked him to do anything at all or help at all, I don't need his help for anything ever in my life at any point in time as long as I am alive. And I most certainly don't need his help to unload a volume stop where everything is on skids.
    Considering I do that stop weekly on my own in 28' truck with everything floor loaded and have that stop off and gone before this clowns even out of bed in the morning. So I said well I could have done all that my self. He goes "Well you could have helped."

    I wanted to say look, if you don't want to help, then don't help I don't need you for anything, you want to be a hard worker, but cry about having to work even though your at the store to work are you not? Aren't you employed there to work? Nobody had to come back and help me, I don't need there help, and don't expect it either, I expect next to nothing from anyone I deal with. So next time that happens I'm just going to tell him, hey don't worry about it you don't need to do that I got it go find something else to do this is to much trouble for you and I don't want to put you out I got it go your useless to me, see how he likes being called useless.

    To many people have inflated opinions of them selves and complain about all the work they have to do, but I'd like to know how they feel when there told, oh poor baby why don't you go away this is to much work for you and your to useless for this, I think a lot of complaining about doing there jobs people could benefit from being called useless.

    Well, not in the Big City per se, but XPO and FXF rock that setup around these parts. I don't do it so much now that we've got a 40' liftgate, but just the other week I pulled a set for my route. Honestly, there are times I'd rather pull a set than the 40, given the tight quarters I have to deal with...

    Funny you posted this, I was just thinking the other day how much if would suck if someone had to take a set of doubles out on a foodservice delivery route. A bulk stop like that would be cake though. Only thing that makes it more difficult is not being able to hook back up with the rear still in the door.

    LTL companies do it all the time in rural areas or just when they have a really long route. I'm pretty sure @road_runner has talked about taking triples on a P&D route in Montana.
