Competing For Freight With Company Drivers

I’m not leased on but have company trucks plus owner ops and I run them all identical. However, I’ve heard before what your saying. I’m sure it’s somewhat common but it’s also human nature to think your not getting as good as you could or should do. So, I take it with a grain of salt.

I guess it sort of matters how you are paid as well. If it’s percentage I could see that making much more difference then by the mile. Also, if you have certain places you refuse to run, times or what have you then don’t expect to be ran the same. The fact is, your not the same in that case.

 

I would be shocked if larger companies didn't have an algorithm that determined which loads were more profitable for company drivers to pull versus owner-operators.

 

I’ll add, if you think you’re being neglected. You need to communicate it to Dispatch, if you haven’t already. They may think you’re perfectly happy. Also, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, at bigger Companies. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

 

What is your deal with where your leased on? How much you making and getting deducted? Where do you run?

 

I'm sure there are loads that are advantageous to use company drivers, and loads that are better for owner operators. For the company, mind you.

 

Because this conclusion is illogical and is the product of flawed reasoning.

 

All that matters is that they’ll load their trucks before you, if no load available, you will do the DH to the next load.
They still make money off you, actually more, they don’t have fuel/Maintence/driver wages, just a phone call or two and some emails.
But they have to keep their drivers happy, or they’ll quit.
