Right out of the gate guys, I'm new to this forum.
Any help would do. As an O/O for 20+ years, I've owned my share of 60s. Absolutely love em.
But this '99 I just acquired has a Thermatic Oil Control Valve. Basically an Oil Thermostat in the housing of the Oil cooler. Never have I seen this, and neither has my ole time mechanic. And we've had MANY 12.7s, not to mention '99 models by the handful. Detroit said Some have it Some don't.
I just now got the cooler put back together with all new stuff. But, under advice, I DID NOT put the (Thermostat) back in.
No probs, so far. Should it operate any different than ones Without the thermostat?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

No real difference except in winter oil temp may run a bit cool which can cause condensation .
