During the last recession 2008-2009 which we still have not fully recovered from imo I read on here freight was rather bad. How was it compared to this pandemic? worse equal. I wasn’t driving trucks back then I stated 2 years ago. Like most drivers I had better miles before all this bs.

I was driving during that recession and the recession didn't affect me at all or the company I drove for.
The reason is, we pulled refrigerated freight and specialized in food.
Food and medicine have to keep moving.

This one is worse because everything closed.

Last one was largely a banking crisis.

but not at the same rate..... Short term, company drivers are mostly unaffected. Long term, some companies will close, affecting drivers.

We recovered from the last one 3 years ago. When blondie took over.

He's done the best job ever. According to him.

And he did it with only 200% inflation.

You can't compare this recession to the last one. The 2 aren't even on the same page.

But I'll say this. Local jobs and wages went to crap. Otr freight was still paying a living.

    Back then.

2008 I was a company driver pulling flatbed. We had about 15 trucks and I think we had a 7 month stretch where at least one truck was sitting for a day somewhere out on the road during the week. But we were still working and we’re still getting home for the weekend.

Current: We were still fairly busy in mid-April when I parked my truck. Everyone says it’s still pretty steady.

The guys I work with? I’ve been parked since mid-April taking care of things and keeping tabs on a house remodeling project, I had to line up a buddy of mine to pull my trailer just to keep loads covered so I could be off.
