Not a bad idea. I have all of my equipment washed every 2 to 3 weeks on the weekends. I think it’s a pretty competitive business though. Just like anything there is equipment startup costs, finding dependable employee problems, and having to find customers or undercut other companies to win the business.
You may do better washing homes, decks, pavers, and surprisingly window and screen cleaning is pretty popular with less competition.
I’d do some market research in your area. I’m in a pretty popular trucking area so that may be why it’s competitive. I think around $25 per truck and $20 per trailer so it’s best to do volume.PE_T Thanks this. -
Depends on the area you are working and the traffic you can see,
Working with a truck stop or a few may be a good idea.PE_T Thanks this. -
Maybe find some company terminals where you could wash several trucks at the same place could work out though. Contact some terminal managers and see what possibilities are out there. -
I store my truck at a yard where they have a mobile service come in every weekend and wash their fleet of around 20 dump trucks. I'm in California, and they don't worry about reclaiming the water.

I never really have washed semi trucks. About how many gallons does one semi truck and trailer need. I am looking to carry a 900 gallon water tank.
-
Do you know how big a 900 gallon tank is?

I have a trailer with a 300 gallon tote to fill with water to wash my truck. It’s got a pressure washer and generator all on the same trailer. 300 gallons is well more than enough to wash a truck. I maybe fill it up once a month with washing twice a week. Mid week wash down and wipe. Sunday full on frame scrub and spray wax cab. Light aluminum polish thru out the week here and there. I bought my trailer from a failed attempt to do fleet washes. Here in Vegas it’s down to 15$ a truck if you have more than 10 to wash. Granted not show washes. But better than it was parked on friday. Very cutthroat if the market is flooded in your area. As with any business, location is key. And is your services in demand? Is there fleets near you? Cause I know guys who take pride in there trucks will get a bucket and soap to do there own truck if they only wash there own. You may have to do other washes like machinery and parking lots? Be more of a general power wash company. Good luck op
Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
