a time when held for detention and the broker came through on their promise......
please tell me a story that the broker paid detention for a considerable amount of $1200 and up......
we are currently in a situation where the customer rejected entire PO of poultry (10,996 lbs 1039 cases) and broker told us (the Business Truck Owner) to find a place to donate the load. Held this load for 36 hours before finding a donation center that could handle that quantity. We are in a pandemic, riots and a feared consumer on all levels. Broker promised hourly pay + mileage as we had to take it 287 miles to unload it. Broker says they have to wait for customer approval and it can take time........ uh? what time? whose time? my time done. Please pay, right? It has been 4 days.....
In this day and time we only hear so much negativity and tend to thrive on only speaking about the bad ending to detention...... rarely do we hear or read about the successful ending to detention pay.....
Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for sharing your story if you do..... I know we could all hear some good stories especially today in our industry.....
Keep the tires down....
Tell me a positive story of....

Still waiting for a detention story with a happy ending? You might have to wait awhile.

Drop off today at 1pm. Broker messes up won’t take it until 9am tomorrow. $500 on the new rate con.
Far from a happy ending but honestly I was blown away to get that. It’s rare.
edit: They sent over $250 and after pitching a major you know what they resent for $500. Gotta fight for every dollar out here.Upinsmoke, fordconvert, KeepUp and 2 others Thank this. -
I got held up at a shipper a few weeks ago for 8 hours was paid just under $800 for detention right away. With that said I hardly ever get detention actually paid. So there's good and bad for you LOL

How about the other direction? Truck picked up in Sioux City, SD last Wednesday morning. We’re literally waiting on the truck all day Friday in SE Idaho, with animals that need the feed on the truck.
Nope, dispatch sent the driver home for a couple days. Pulled in Sunday, driver was told it was a Monday appointment. Weekend crew called in a neighbor to get him unloaded.
what do we get?Upinsmoke, KeepUp, Deere hunter and 1 other person Thank this. -
Your situation sounds to me like the driver was either short on hours and had to do a 34 reset or didn't have enough hours to get it there until Sunday. I don't know just take it as a lesson learned and plan ahead next time.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Truck was ordered from the broker to pick up on Tuesday am and deliver 1,000 mile load no later than Friday. Dispatch changing things to Monday without letting either shipper or receiver know doesn’t make a Sunday delivery early.
I don’t care what excuses are out there, no notifications, late, means you’re on the “do not use list”. Broker and carrier, their dog and their news paper boy.....Upinsmoke, D.Tibbitt, Deere hunter and 3 others Thank this. -
Upinsmoke Thanks this.
