You can get into a 18 wheeler push the automatic into D and drive forward. You have a thousand big mirrors to help you and 300 computers watching your work. It can even drive itself within reason on the highway slowing down by radar if people in front slowed too much. Its not hard. Just like driving a house. You will get use to that.

You two cannot live on one drivers netpay and keep up the house mortgage and all the bills thereof. You will both be gone so much why bother. Sell the place.

If you can be with your man in a space about the size of a bathroom for months on end and not kill each other then you two have something special.

Most people cannot get to a doctor across town on time within 10 minutes, you two will be running potentially 3000 miles across the USA in ANY weather, ANY terrain, ANY situation and be there 10 minutes early. Without fail. We with me and my wife driving have had loads with FFE worried that it will be 10 minutes late and thus a BIG service failure.

    SHEESH.

Ultimately wife had to stop when the bad food and hydration caused her medical problems in which our doctor warned her and me that if we keep her going this way in trucking in less than a year she is going to have several VERY chronic medical problems and be forced to stop. And for what? A broken health?

What we did not know then was cancer was pending that would have stopped us in time anyway fairly soon. So thats out. Never mind my own accumulated body damages that required at this point 20 years of medical care to repair most of it. Covid made sure that I am not progressing with hearing aids and glasses to finish the work to be 100% while disregarding wear and tear that no doctor can fix ever. Basically I am a 75 year old man while in the mid 50's So I conduct myself accordinly.

Thats trucking. We loved it together. But we also had domestic arguments and other really serious issues that came up now and then during that time too. If you two cannot work through that and love each other after trucking, it will break the both of you up.

I hate to be such a drip and raining. The positive side is HUSBAND and WIFE team in Trucking is ABSOLUTELY the MOST valuable. They get the best pay, best equiptment, TOP prioirty dispatch and so on.

Just don't tell them that they are ripe for abuse by stupid companies. And that lies the problems.

I don’t have a wife yet but I am thinking about going flat bedding.

Do you think it would be cheaper and less hassle to buy a conastoga or find a wife and have her tarp ?

Reminds me of a Driver I met once. Said he had it all figured out. Gonna buy a Truck, hire a female to run with him, no Driving, just for support, and expected her to carry her weight, chain and tarp. After all, he reasoned, She was going to be making about $1200 a week. I then asked him how much he expected the Truck to make per week. No answer. He was serious. Hilarious

Get a fat wife; she will already be experienced at tarping, just by getting dressed every day.

    We
I don't drive, just ride along with my husband one and a half years , we visit his 4 boys only 2 days of the month. Then back on the road. Being together in the truck is not a vacation-longhaul trucker. It is important to go on vacation & spend fun time together alone off road, not with family. Both 70 yrs old.

I would think thoroughly on going full time especially if you don't drive. It can be very discouraging to be stuck in a semi truck all day all night and all you experience is truck stops and loading docks. I did it for 1 year 6 months before I couldn't do it anymore. I actually quit my job because my husband we would travel.
