You are correct.. there are MANY idiot drivers out here; y'all just have more T/T's than the rest of usn's put together, it seems. No dis, man.

 

The other part is how often you see the big companies.

If Billy Bob Transport does something dumb, you go "he is an idiot", and never think of it again. If Swift does it, you "there goes swift again", despite being 15 swift trucks handling their business that day.

 

Of all the options he had, he chose the worst one. Even so he could have made it through there if he'd been paying attention.

 

I guess I am an isolated case, just an island.

I had a good trainer nearly 10 years ago; he had 6 years in back then and he is still at Swift.
I have had half a dozen DM's and have had very little conflict with them, even with my record of doing my own thing out here.
I don't take crap from anyone, and they don't hand it to me either.
High idle times, long breaks, turning down loads that I simply don't like for whatever reason.
But I get the job done, safely and on time, even if it means shutting down for weather so it gets there a little later.

My safety score has not been 100% in that time. I have made some mistakes, like most all of us do because no one is perfect.
Nothing as bad as that Swift driver, or so many that find their way into this thread.
If I did something like that I would hand in my CDL.

But the people that condemn Swift as a bad company because some drivers are garbage drivers?
Get a life.

I get that many have had a bad experience at Swift, and probably mainly because of a garbage DM.
Some have had a bad experience because they were the garbage driver. Unwilling or unable to learn how to be safe out here.

Some have had the bad experience simply because they don't know how to (or won't) stand up for themselves.
Draw the line once or twice, and they will stop trying to push you so hard.
They are not the captain of your truck... you are!

 

I know some of them screw up but I've never had a problem with any Swift drivers. I'm more worried about the O/O's that have old beat up rigs.

 

It's the Chicagoland and Canadian guys for me.

Seriously, why can't Canada send their GOOD drivers on the international loads?

 

From what I've read on the Canadian forum they do send their good drivers.
