After 3 weeks in the shop, the truck is finally back.

Here's a rough list of the work.

    New CAC - Duralite.
    Recore radiator to 4 core.
Stainless upper and lower rad tubes, new coolant hoses, fan clutch air hose, rebuild fan clutch, new water pump, thermostats.
New hood pivots, bushings, cables. Weld bumper bracket, build supports, install bumper.
Reseal front structure, new cam bearings, rebuild jakes.
New 5th wheel, brake relay valve. Flex pipe to stacks both sides,
Replace head gasket, replace #3 cylinder pack due to scoring. Injector O-rings.

And a bunch of other bits and pieces.

    Total cost $14,715.

We thought the oil leak was coming from the front cover. I said - I can buy a lot of oil for the labor to get all the way in there. Pulled the trigger on it anyway, to find that after it all went back together, oil leak still persisted. So - he didn't charge me the labor on the front structure job. Pulled the head and found the leak in the gasket. On the plus side, I'll spend less on cleaning the shop floor now.

Now I'm all dressed up with NOWHERE TO GO.

The thing about your numbers and how they compare with the general populace numbers, is that you are not a mere doctor but a brain surgeon doctor. Most of us are family doctors or veterinarians, and not much higher aspirations. There is a long way from a family doctor to a brain surgeon...

I see your thread as a success story. I wonder how much of it was intended, planned, anticipated and how much of it was sporadic, sort of out of luck, it just turned out like that in its own course of things since you decided on doing open deck work.
    .
Regardless, I really bid you respect for your achievements.

That's very kind of you. thank you.

It took a little while to see the 'big picture' - and the usual plodding along (work) - to get there. Keeping my eyes and mind as open as I could helped too, my mouth shut and ears open was a big one.

I'm not sure what is on the horizon for the rest of the year. I doubt it will continue at the current levels, but the events so far this year have me a little perturbed at the world in general.

You got me - darn it. You fellas don't miss much.

Mechanic said - "those are just a touch out of round - BH Tubes has some nice stainless ones you could get at some stage".

I'll put it on the list.

Now - quit spending more of my $$. :)

A drop visor would really look nice, but nothing too low, just a little lower that stock. Just my average opinion . Great thread BTW.

I've been pretty much sitting at home spending mine the last 2+ months, I figured yours was free game? When I sit too long, I start finding new ways to spend money. I'm pretty sure I passed the tipping point of frugal/excess 3 weeks ago?

Tug Toy and blairandgretchen Thank this.
