    Two of our major accounts are lumber mills. If you don't tie things down right, you don't get your paperwork until the problem is corrected.
    That's not to say that they're super picky or unduly critical, they're not. But if you load a full trailer of expensive finished lumber without tying it down, tarp it, and then throw one strap over each unit with no gut wrapper you're not going anywhere.
    There's an old time lumber truck driver who's a tallyman for the shipping department and he looks at every load.
    I'm not in favor of shippers telling us how to secure our loads but judging by some of the loads I've seen maybe somebody should be educating these guys.

    Im thinking that load is a pretty good indicator that they may be sharing half a brain between the two of'm.

    I put them through the center but that should be fine provided the spool is steel. If not definitely the center. Only need 3 chains at most and you're legal at 2. Unless the point you are securing it to on the trailer has a lower WLL than the chains
