I was told by the lady who runs the Swift Academy in Phoenix that after 2 years only 2% of the folks who went to the academy are still with Swift. Unsure if that includes folks who left Swift, but later returned (which is more common than you'd think).

Unless one gets a really bad DM, Swift is a decent company to work for.
Many go to 'greener pastures' and then realize how good they actually had it here.

All mega carriers are all about profit. I understand it is a business, but they take advantage of drivers. Look at Walmart. They are the highest paid in the industry, and have a very low turnover rate. I talked to a driver there who told me drivers generally only leave because they want to come off the road

close up, sell off everything, and never open another trucking company for as long as they are alive.

If Walmart’s turnover is so low why are they always hiring drivers?. Besides I can’t imagine the drivers at Walmart are happy with the cameras pointed at their face.

They probably don't like the cameras I agree with that. Their starting pay is almost 90k. They used to pay $42 a night to their drivers to sleep in the truck. They used to be hard to get on there, don't know if that is still the case. If I ever decided to sell my truck and trailer, I would probably go there. As for why they are always hiring. I would assume that they want more ofbtheir own trucks and drivers so they won't contract as much out to common carriers. But don't take my word for it, ask one of their drivers

I thought I read that Walmart was going to eliminate or reduce there fleet, that supposedly it made more financial sense for them to hire common carriers.

I have not heard of that, but I did hear Walmart was putting on something like 500 drivers

FYI, Swift is culling the higher paid drivers and replacing them with the new (lower paid) drivers.

In the last month, a half dozen drivers making 50+ cpm were terminated for BS reasons. The hammer came down from the same safety officer a thousand miles away, against the protests of the office staff (including the onsite manager). I was one of them last week, after nearly 7 years of 100% on time service.
