Western Express hands down is the worst experience I have had thus far in this industry. I got hired as a lease to purchase driver. They gave me a truck which I could not even pick out that was involved in an accident. It was a 2018 International with over 400, 000 miles on it. They said if I wanted to I could switch it out later but after speaking with a few leasing guys they told me not to because i would be waiting for a long time. Western told me i had 30 days to list any problems the truck had & they would get it fixed. That didn't happen & it would not happen because they wanted me running nonstop. My first check was for $603 & I made over $1200. So they took half. My second pay I made close to $2000 & they gave me a $250 check but only because I threaten to quit so my DM gave me a $100 bonus bringing my pay that week to $350. After that week this put a strain on my wife which in turn had us fighting & asking me why am I out there running like a beast for this company & my pay checks aren't even covering a quarter of our mortgage. So after doing the numbers with my wife we decided to jump ship. So many people told me not to get involved but I gave them the benefit of the dought. My final week which was my 3rd week with them I ran 3000 miles & because I quit they did not pay me a penny. After speaking with a Tennessee lawyer which is where their main terminal is. The lawyer said not to waste my time, chalk it up as a lost. He told me that I wasnt the first & sure as hell wont be the last. In three weeks I managed to spend $2500 of my money into the truck because I was so excited of having my own but it turn out to be different & alls I saw in my pay in 3 weeks was under $1000 dollars & I only made it home one time in 3 weeks, Running balls to the wall for these guys. What a legal form of extortionists! My Lord have mercy on them, for they know not what they do. Beware, wolves in sheeps clothing!!!

we here at TTR call it, "fleece purchase" programs.
wish you had come on here and researched ,prior to signing on.buddyd157, p608, austinmike and 4 others Thank this. -
Back to you agreed to it or it would not have happened in this case, agree that your going to buy what ever they give you, I think not.
yardstick565 Thanks this. -
Well, well... Yet another person falls victim to the infamous Fleece Purchase program. They probably told you that you could be your own boss, own your own truck, haul loads you wanted to haul, go where you wanted to go, blah blah blah, ect.....
Why cant people realize thatvthe ONLY reason most lease purchases are even offered/pressured upon people is because the company benefits more from them than from hiring regular company drivers.
Now how could a Truck owned by someone else make more money for the company than one the company ownes??? The answer is that they are nit making money from the truck, they are making money from the supposed owner because he has to foot ALL the expense related to the truck... As well as anything else the said they would charge to you in the fine print of the contract.D.Tibbitt, WildTiger1990, mjd4277 and 2 others Thank this. -
Sorry to hear of another L/P gone south. The first red flag for me would have been not getting to pick out my own truck. Good luck with your future endeavors!
okiedokie Thanks this. -
Why. I just don’t get it.
-
The 2nd red flag would’ve been doing a fleece purchase with them.
The 3rd red flag would’ve been being given an International with 400,000 miles already on the clock(with all the brand new Volvos and Cascadias that company has been buying).
You’re not the first driver they’ve swindled.DoubleO7, stevep1977, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
Drivers (particularly new drivers) would save themselves a lot of unnecessary grief if they would research companies before they sign on. It's not like these big corporate outfits just started screwing drivers, it's been going on for as long as I can remember. You'd think someone would warn these drivers about these sh#t companies.

The problem is sometimes people don’t heed the warnings. They think “it won’t happen to me” or “ it’ll be different this time”!!DoubleO7, buddyd157, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
mjd4277 Thanks this.
