Anyone running one of the newer Chey/GMC 4500/5500 Hd trucks?

I'm talking one of these?



I'm finally looking at new trucks it's about time to retire the 05 F350 I started with. I was looking at F550's with the new 10 speed but in all honestly, I really don't like how Ford & Dodge use essentially the same truck for their 4500 & 5500 as what a 3500 is. I mean yes I know it's much better-upgraded suspension and rear ends ect but overall doesn't really seem like a commercial truck to me.

However Chevy/GMC both use a much heavier duty build for their 4500/5500 class and added bonus has tilt forward hood for easier access..

The problem of course being the Duramax. on the flipside the Allison trans is well proven. I'm curious is anyone using one of these? I've seen a few car hauler guys running them and I did briefly talk to a guy the other day who said he's had his a year and loved it.

So I'm wondering does anyone here have 1st hand experience with them? The prices on the 2019's are very very ripe for the taking and I'm leaning toward one of these vs the F550 with the 10 speed because I can get a 2019 a bit under 20k less than the 2020 Ford.

The major difference is if I go with the Ford I'd only buy a 2020 with the 10 speed, I wouldn't buy a 2019 6 speed but the Chevy/GMC I'd be ok buying the 2019 at the reduced savings.

 

Oh for the record the 05 F350 I bought for $5k and fixed up has been way better than I ever expected. After I worked all the bugs out it's been very good to me, but it's time to upgrade. I just delivered this guy on Friday it's running strong and pulls like hell but I know if I keep pushing, it's gonna leave me sitting somewhere..

 

I'm running under 26k now but I'm switching over to cars and will be going with a CDL set up. So no matter what brand it will be a 4500-5500 truck. I don't really want to buy new but the time has come. As far as buying new Chevy has the best price out of any of them and I do like that it's a bigger truck so it will be more stable feeling.

 

I've been running cars, I go into a lot of residential neighborhoods. That's where Hotshot fits into the game for car's. They can deliver right to the customer's door and get it there faster than a Semi. You simply can't stay in an under CDL set up when running cars , it's too hard to make money hauling just 2 cars.

Now with that said. I did recently find a 2000 International with a cummings and a sleeper that has the 5 car hauler body. It's a very, very good price so I'm planning to at least go look at it before I make a decision. on buying a truck.

I think they call them 5 Pack's as far as type of set up it is. It's very rare to find them with sleepers so I do plan to at least go look at it.
