So I just had the valve covers pulled to have the overhead adjusted and mack said that the camshaft and the rockers have rust.
They also said that it saw signs of pushing coolant but I don't know what that means.
What causes this?
Thank you

Getting water/antifreeze up there, probably a head gasket.
Worse would be a cracked head.Edjahman Thanks this. -
Antifreeze will not cause rust internally especially with the oil mixture. I can’t believe somebody was running straight water but very puzzling. When truck is running get half full bottle of water put the radiator tube down in see if you see air bubbles.

They are talking 18K $$$
Whats this pushing coolant mean?
I believe they were referring to the injectors.
Thank you -
They just mean it’s pushing coolant into your oil and that could come from the bottom of liner packs head gasket cracked head yes also I think A Mack can push it through the injectors that would be the easiest fix.

Is this the ...2016 Mack with 300K miles?
Edjahman Thanks this. -
They also said that they wanted to pull the injectors because it might need cups.
I wonder if Peterbilt paid for the repairs would it still be a usable unit?
I'm already 5K into it because of regular maintenance items
Obviously I should have had the overhead looked at first so my bad on that one.
Thanks -
So, you found all these problems before you even drove the truck off there lot?
Edjahman Thanks this. -
So I drove it a few miles.
