Why do folks buy or want 96 instead of 102?

Because we are in town 90% of the time or winding thru a mill where the clearance for trucks and trailers takes a backseat to what the mill junkies wanna do. Besides, how much trailer do you need just to haul coils? Forget length and width... I wanna load it up and still look empty without worrying about it snapping in half!

Compare the weight of a 45/96 and a 53/102 when you haul heavy and are paid by the 100/weight. The difference can be hundreds per week.

You're absolutely right. The Mrs. with her 45x96 and intl 9900i is, on average, about 1500lbs lighter than my pete and 45x102. Last week she followed me around all 5 days... we hauled the same loads to the same places the same number of times. She grossed almost $180 more than me because she can easily scale 48k+. If I'm full of fuel, I can get 47800.
