Yes sir. I’ve learned to watch for higher water content on the lab analysis sheet. Some of my loads are 35-40% water and they slosh around the most.

Always interesting the amount of knowledge one can glean from a simple discussion thread on a topic. Thanks for the bit of education.

No tanker experience here so I can’t add much to the conversation, but I recently had a load of 88 drums... Didn’t think much of it until my first stop at which time I experienced the Truck doing a little dancing around behind me ... the weirdest feeling.

Nothing like a true surge described above but it was a fun Physics in Action experiment for me.

Before this, my only experience with surge was when I was loaded with paint totes that weighed 6-7000 each. A strange feeling to be sure the first few times.

When I was in CDL school, I had dreams of driving a tanker. I got a tanker endorsement but never got the hazmat endorsement. And then I saw I'd have to shave my beard to haul chemicals, and I'm pretty attached to it. So I guess it's dry van and reefer for the foreseeable future.

This isn't a chemical hauler so plenty drivers here have beards. Even so, I think the no beard thing is company specific rather than industry standard.

I've only done 2 loads so far and both facilities had furry employees. They have to wear those nets but there were a couple guys sporting beards of Taliban proportions.

Well, hometime is over. Will be headed out in the morning. On a more personal note, the longevity raise I was suppose to get effective 4/13 and was told it was on hold due to the COVID-19 crap that shut this country down, and that I would get it once we turned the corner, came through in this pay period, along with the 24,000 miles I ran the 2 months after that I was owed. I thought my pay was a little higher then I thought it should be. So, what I was told back in April, turned out to be true. I got my raise along with the miles I was shorted on. I’m still impressed with the integrity of the President of Abilene, now if they can work on the circus they call operations, it just might be a good company one day.

Nah, that ship sailed when Knight bought Abilene. Freshly minted college grads have no clue what goes on in a truck from day to day.

But it works in theory on paper.

It will certainly remind you of what’s back there, won’t it? ;)
