Low air warning buzzer came on so I pretty much had to pull over. Once I stopped, the air climbed back up so hopefully it was a fluke. My relief valve stuck open earlier then went back to normal, maybe it was that again. No noise underneath.
Anyway, assuming I can get out of this parking lot, at least I got on some clean clothes and got some coffee and food! I didn't think that was in the cards today.
Seems to be doing ok in 9th, it's quiet on straightaways and uphill when there's a load on it, but fusses and grinds when going downhill and the weight of the tractor is pushing the tranny.
I see there's quite the debate going on. I always appreciate all points, but I do want to throw a couple things out there.
First, I've been out there 6 months now. I feel I'm every bit as much trained as any driver mill experience there is at this point. However there is no fix for stupidbiggrin_2559
and I'm going to have some mishaps.
2nd, I do NOT haul cheap freight. Not by design. Most of my loads are $1.75 to $2.25 per pcmiler mile. They are there if you want them. However I do deadhead a lot and that eats into the bottom line. Also my numbers are what I'm left with after all deductions and with true miles which is still around $1.20. The fact that I will drive 400 miles or so to go pick up these loads doesn';t make them any less available to everyone else or drive rates down. My simply existing as one of the trucks out there is the biggest impact I could possibly have on it, being a number.
And today I ran into tons of snags getting out of that scale and dropping that trailer. I removed and replaced my shifter housing, I lock-gripped my trailer landing gear to improvise for no crank. I don't have air dumps on my truck so I had to remove the regulator and manually inflate/deflate them to get to the exact proper height, using a shoe to hold it in place while worked the release in the cab. My air dryer/regulator that spits out excess air stuck during this process, spitting out air like a steam train..chugga chugga chugga... I found it and pushed it up, got it a little more cooperative, but then had to evacuate the system and start over and it held and I got out from under that trailer.
So please guys, remember where I was a few WEEKS ago. I've come a LONG way and am willing to get better.
Just stick by me a little longer!

Yeah, I'm afraid that may just be the case. REALLY bad timing though. If it could have held out another month or so, with the amount of hopper freight he is getting, he should have been able to at least get a few dollars put away in preparation. -

On the shoulder again. Must be an accident up ahead, traffic is stopped. Don't want to ride the clutch that many miles in 7th!
Hope it gets resolved soon. -
