Anyone installed AirDog Caterpillar Secondary Fuel System Upgrade Kit on 3406E or C15

    I didn't invent the ecm with fuel as coolant but that was what it is intended to do take that up with cat

    I highly doubt that the fuel coming from the tanks is anywhere near 180°... If it was, all it would take would be a very tiny spark to make it into a bomb... The flash point of diesel is between 125° and 180° depending on grade.

    Take a laser temp gun and read it on a 100* day in GA or TX or wherever. Fuel continually cycling through a head at 195 to 200*.

    I had a 2006 W9 with an ISX. On hot days I could remove a fuel cap and vapor would roll out of the tank and you couldn’t see down into the tank.

    Flash point of diesel is 96*F to 205*F. Flash point doesn’t necessarily mean a liquid will ignite at that temp.

    The auto-ignition temperature is the one you gotta worry about. Approximately 410°F for diesel.

    The fuel in your tanks is never 180 degrees. If it was it would set a high fuel temp code in ecm.

    120-130 degrees on a hot day would be on the high side.

    Fuel goes through the ECM first on a 40 pin cat then to the head.

    I had 04 Volvo with ISX and fuel in tanks were hot fue to a lot of return fuel. Thats how ISX runs. On this 3406E 1LW on hot day i see 120F max. Anyhow so you guys saying 1LW ECM doesnt reed anything in ECM just using fuel to cool it down ?. Than i can T fittings like AirDog guys told me ??

    I know (at least with the S60's) that the fuel tanks were hot to the touch on a summer's day. I've never actually checked the temperature though.

    I could see the fuel pushing 180°F right out of the head maybe but after cycling back to the tanks and having 100 km/h wind blow past it, its definitely realistic to see it drop 40-60°F by the time it gets picked back up again.

    Most folks bypass the ecm with fuel when its time to replace the lines. It isn't necessary to run through the older ecms.
