I have been driving at this company for a couple of years now and always get the same load every day. Run it with no problems. I liked it so much that they said I could run it from now on, so I've been running it ever since.
We recently got a new driver a couple of weeks ago. Really nice guy. Shows up to work everyday and easy to get along with. Our boss told us that he received the Medal of Honor during his time in Afghanistan. I looked him up online and his name and picture showed up along with his story on how he received it. It's an amazing story of sacrificing himself to save others. I'm obviously not going to give his name on here, but I never knew he received the Medal of Honor because he never told anyone. He doesn't say much.
Well anyways, I showed up this morning to run my load when my boss called me in the office to say that he made a few changes. One of which was he has permanently given my load away to the veteran simply because he told the boss that he really liked running it, so he gave it to him. The only time he ran it was last week when I took my day off. That's the only time any of the drivers run my load when I take my day off, but I've never had it permanently given to someone else.
On top of that, he gave him the newest truck on the fleet. There are drivers that have been here for years that have not been able to get a new truck.
I don't know. Just feel really down right now. Always made the stops on the routes on time every time, but just gives it away without warning. I fully appreciate everything he's done, but man...... I really liked that route and now it's gone.
Company gave my dedicated route away to a Medal of Honor veteran.......

Best thing you can do is go in there and talk to the boss and let him know how you feel about it all. I mean honestly though... a Medal of Honor recipient. That’s insane.
Might need to just let them know how you feel but then suck it up and move on. Don’t be mad at the driver either, he doesn’t know he’s messing up your world.Last edited: Jun 20, 2020

you don't "win" the MOH.
my opinion? the boss did an honorable thing.Arky75, Northern Nomad, Jimbo56 and 13 others Thank this. -
The MOH driver probably doesn't even know this happened.
Highly unlikely the boss told him you were losing your run.
If the boss had told him, he probably wouldn't have taken the run.born&raisedintheusa, Swedish Chef, Wargames and 22 others Thank this. -
Did he get a nuke?
Coffey Thanks this. -
I won't mince words but it isn't your load.
I've had great work pulled from under me and still didn't get upset about it.
this is one reason why it pays to be flexible, you'll be rewarded later with better work.

Also could be other reasons behind the sceneCoffey, Deere hunter, Badmon and 3 others Thank this. -
As someone with first hand knowledge it's way easier to keep things to yourself.
This can probably be talked out with the boss. I would try that first before just quittingbentstrider83, beastr123, 91B20H8 and 1 other person Thank this. -
the guy did his time in a war zone. i don't know what job he had here, before he left to do battles.
it has been said that Vets have a hard time finding employment at times, when they return home.
maybe the boss is a former military man himself, or has someone in his family in the service?
it would have been better if the boss spoke to you first, and told you to your face, rather than blindside you. but he IS the boss, and if he is the OWNER then he is pretty much free to do as he deems fit.
this could still work out for you, in another good route, and a new truck for you as well.
i'd "sit tight" for a while and let things play out.
there is no point in telling the Vet what happened, as i think one of the other drivers will most certainly speak up. there is ALWAYS ONE GUY that does this, at every company.
the Vet, deserves a job, he did after all make some sacrifices as well, and maybe actually lost a lot, while in the war zone, like the job he had. maybe THAT company went belly up and he could not go back there?
give it some time, be reasonable, life throws all of us a curve ball every once in a while.
it's how YOU handle it, that makes YOU a man of character, and humbleness.
