I feel the same. I’ll always avoid places were there isn’t a couple other trucks minimum.

I was raised a city boy and had a bad traumatic experience in the woods as a child. To this day I get a bit freaked out being alone where there are few humans. Even on my acreage out in the desert with no one around, I won’t go if I’m not carrying. And while it’s good protection from critters, it’s the human kind that I’m concerned about.

Truck stops are safe to me. Even the ones in notably bad areas. I know the games and characters there.

 

The only danger I came across at the truck stops were the Flying J all you can eat buffet I think I ate way to much corn syrup so my over health and well being were in great danger.

 

I don't think I ever mentioned it before but you should always watch out for runaway trucks in the lot. I had a tractor t-bone me at 1230 while I was asleep. No driver and an empty truck. Turns out the guy had it waiting for service after pulling it out of a field, parked in the lot and the brakes let go up the hill from me. My truck was 3 months old.

 

I assure you the hillbilly dressed in a full ghillie suit taking you by surprise on your driver side window only wants to say “hi” and ask for a change of undies because he #### his pants after falling out his tree stand

 

It obviously thought your truck was pretty and just wanted to ask it out, but tripped and sprained its ankle, then fell right into her
