These may be a good thing to put in a trucks first aid tool box.

You can buy small wooden, cone shaped, plugs.

Don't know about Flex Seal but 'Plug N Dike' works. that is carried [with the wooden plugs] by most haz mat responders.

We donated an old tank that we welded legs on to the county fire school that they could use for practice with the plugs and the plug and dike when training. Site was used by the State Police and others.

i have a bill on my desk from Jackson county for hazmat clean up from a fuel spill for $1400. This was from an accident, car his a pickup, the welder the pickup was pulling flew across the road and slammed into the truck.

Screenshot_2020-06-24 SteelStik Epoxy Putty Stick.png Tested! Cut part of the stick just enough to plug hole. After leak stop clean area around plugged hole and use rest to overlapping patch.

Tried that once with a gas tank and didn't have any luck. Ate right through it.
Good to know it will work for diesel.

Had hat happen to one of our trucks in NJ. Of course where he was at there are drains every 20 feet it seems.
    That ran $15k

Had a different driver years back that dropped his reefer and folded the landing gear into the tank. That was a $10k cleanup

blew a drive tire once and it put a big dent in the end of the tank.

the steel belts actually put small slices in the tanks so it seeped fuel.

tried all kinds of things to seal it.

ended up removing and having a patch welded on.

So total cost of tow and repair bill 800$. Called my insurance ,they said if there was no fuel on highway and if the tropper did not mentioned.about cleanup. Not to worry about it. Fuel went into the gravel on the shoulder . And fire department.didnt looked worried about anything so i hope its nothing major. Bad part , pets gota wait another day for their food.

    Includes final remediation and disposal?

Here the local has mat stabilizes things, traffic control, boom the drains and turns it over to a 'pro' that you call out from a list...usually have to sign a fax promising to pay them too before they come out and pick up the stuff the haz mat is gonna have you replace along with any residual fuel pumped out, if any stayed in there, drum it up and arrange disposal.

My last one was around $1400 for the hax mat and an additional $1500 for the remediation and disposal.
