Up until 1990 we had a Pete cabover and a 45’ cattle wagon that was used for Florida and GA. runs only. Even with the 45’ the 41’ kpra was close. And I believe GA was still a hold out on the overall 65’
@Long FLD explained it. Some trailers arn’t getting 41’ if you tried. @Western flyer that Arizona mud flap law has been a thing since the 60’s. They are one of the reasons why someone invented the chrome anti-sail hangers and weights. They don’t want them flapping or sailing.

Western flyer and Long FLD Thank this.

If your choice is one or the other, the fine for overweight is less than for over length.

Did that happen on NB i95 today?
I saw a commercial inspector rolling the measuring wheel down the side of a trailer today as I was coming thru the scale north of west palm today?

Get a 50-foot steel tape and a clamp to hold it where the kingpin is. Figure out which states you're passing through and which state has the minimum distance between kingpin and rear axle or center of axle group and mark it with a piece of duct tape when you're scaling the load.
