Simple cut the crap. Offer it at 60 cpm, if theres a hire on bonus thats fine. Money and home time. But when companies start the guarenteed, or you could average its like carrots in front of a rabbit, maybe you get it maybe not, in most cases its not. If someone offered me .60 plus tarp pay, and a hire on bonus that would intereste me, but like I stated once they start the you could make, this signals deception and Im gone.

If your RPM is NOT .60 then don't advertise that you are paying .60. Advertise .55 CPM, and advise the driver what the accessorial pay is. If you are not being transparent. Drivers consider that trickery

I dont know who "He is" but at a mega carrier you know what your being paid, if thats your choice. I would not drive for a 1099 OO.

You wasted his time, filling out applications,
Giving him the road test, then pulling the okie doke
And telling him it's not really .60 cpm,
It's .55 cpm and some bonuses if You feel like
    Giving them to him.

He's was smart to back away.
You lied before he even turned a mile.
He's thinking about what other tricks you might
    Have up your sleeve.

I don't blame him, most of us have been burnt
So many times by these companies, we take no
    Chances anymore.

I actually did the exact same thing.
Dude promised me one thing and by the time I got my physical, endorsements, and drug test, he changed his tune
The lie was about the route. He promised me Albany GA to Atlanta every night and turn.
The guy who test drove me said, no, I think another dude is going to do that.
The supervisor that I turned my paperwork into a couple of weeks later said, no, I think another dude is going to do that.
When nut cuttin time came, I said, "So I'm still turning Atlanta, right?"
Dude said, "Well, actually you'll be turning Dothan AL."
Anyone who's ever been to South Georgia can tell you, Albany to Atlanta is a WHOLE LOT different than Albany to Dothan.

I figured, "If you'll lie to me now, you'll lie to me later."

    No thanks

No. The ad said 60-70cpm AVG BASE. I believe that the confusion, on my part, was the industrys understanding of "Base". I've changed my ads. The ad was never meant to "dazzle" anyone. It was simply designed to show the true actual rate of pay that drivers make each week. In truth, guys average 60-80cpm, as a company driver. MOSTLY and nearer the 60cpm.

Correct. Tell future potential employees the actual CPM. Then tell about the accessorial pays.
Some drivers can't figure that out on their own, so you have to go into detail.

You don't put a bottom number in an ad and expect someone to accept lower.

Give you a hint, you make it soooooooo clear that a three year old will understand what you are offering,
