I have taken this advice since 2008. When delivering in those area’s the attitudes I observed were quite the opposite of the guys I met in the Marine Corp, some of the best people. Never going back!

The loophole for company drivers is if a no firearms company policy exists at the time you fire a shot. The 2nd amendment and self defense will prevent you from serving time. But like I said, if a no firearms policy exists at the time you fire a shot, this will become a gateway for the family of the victim to go after you. Then you end up paying for repercussions and punitive damages with all of your money.

The solution: work for a company that doesn’t have a no firearms policy or just be an o/o (I’m not talking about lease operators. Re-read your lease agreement word for word because I guarantee to you somewhere in there says “no firearms”).

Oh now I get it. That’s why a lot of companies have a no firearms policy. So should you fire at someone they’re not going to get involved in the civil matters. I found it weird why they even had any involvement. Shouldn’t that go the other way though? If you get hurt or killed can’t you or a family member sue the company for not allowing you to arm yourself for defense?

Short answer no, long answer yes, but.

Can I sue my employer after a workplace shooting? - Marketplace

If an employer does not have a "no weapons " policy, and one of their employees shoots someone, then the employer can be held liable.

Yes it goes both ways. Work injury, ect...Hell you can even sue your dispatcher or planner to stop sending you to the north East (if you’ve been in the company for 10 years).

When you get sued in court, it’s going to be the victims family vs you and *insert name of your company*. Millions of dollars will be settled before the trial even starts.

But I know people who fight back to their last breath. My friend is an o/o. He owns 5 trucks and has 4 people driving for him. One of his drivers was safely parked at a rest area. A drunk 4wheeler came driving by, hit the trailer and died. The family sued my friend for 1 million (lol). This was in 2009, and the case is still going as of 2020. He isn’t backing down.

Nah that's a political answer and not correct. The answer is much deeper than that. For instance if you want to change Illinois you have to start in IOWA where the firearms come from.

I think if someone is TRAINED PROPERLY, and can pass a psychological examination then yes. But we can't even get drivers to park straight, turn their headlights off when in a dock, and pee in a bottle or go in to the restroom to use the bathroom. Or a biggie, clean up after themselves. How many times have you stopped at a place that you used to park, only to find out you can no longer park there due to drivers trashing the place?
