How to Use 2 Inch Ratchet Straps

For a start - WD40 or similar - so that ratchet turns and clicks freely.

I leave the 30’ strap hooked, take ratchet off - opened all the way up, and pull hard - if your ratchet is oiled up it will Un spool ok.

Worst case, turn the ratchet with pliers till strap can be pulled out.

 

Its raining out but when it stops I will post a picture. When you feed it through make sure the tail end is on the outside towards your body not behind the strap as your ratcheting it.

 

If it dont turn, a pair of channel locks and u could turn it ... but what i do is open the ratchet all the way and pull on the strap from the backside of the ratchet and it should unspool

Unfortunatly all ratchets are backwards and they are designed to push up on them to tighten. But i like how ya got it , designed to pull down to tighten.... If ya looking to set it up like its designed to , take the ratchet off and flip that hook on the rub rail to the inside of it ... so the hook is facing outside rather than inside like u got it.... when u put the strap thru the ratchet and tighten, it will laydown properly with the strap.. But this way u will have to push upwards to tighten

 

When I buy new ratchets I always take the bolt off at the bottom of the ratchet and flip the hook part around so that you arent ending up in this position...
