hey guys. ok so im a intermodal owner op. my company got 2 conestogas so i grabbed 1 to try it. look im skinny. 185 pounds. im not tough. and im really struggling on strapping these loads. i got a load of steel pipes. the skinny ones id say . and its strapped as much as i was able to get it. but it needs 1 more knotch for that piano sound. and i cannot do it. if i buy a ratchet bar from tarp stop. would that help me. if dot pulls me over and tells me he wants it more tight what in the hell am i gonna do. im pretty embarrassed telling you guys this. but i dont see mysf gaining muscle in next few weeks to do it

Ummmm....
Are you saying you don’t have a winch bar? How are you tightening your straps?farmerjohn64, Coffey and 4noReason Thank this. -
You need to bounce on the bar harder. Jump up and then put your weight into it on the way down. Jump up into the air.
Although, try not to put the center of the bar near the middle of you palm, make sure the bar is on some meat. Lots of nerves are wide open in that middle middle/bottom of your palm, it's not that hard to mess something up in your hand, or over time.
If you hand feel numb after doing it, don't do it that way again!farmerjohn64, Coffey, 4noReason and 2 others Thank this. -
Coffey Thanks this.

No grip it close to ur mid section. Get a firm grip and put all ur weight on that bar and a little momentum , aka jump. I weigh less than u and havent had no problems. Its easier and better to throw more straps and have them medium tightness rather than less straps and have them piano wire tight

You've got 10lbs on me and I can tighten the F out of a strap.
Im gonna go out on a limb and say you're in the Houston area if you were running containers and now you're running pipe.farmerjohn64, Coffey, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I stand on left side of bar , left hand on middle of bar and right hand on the end for leverage. And u want tighten with ur whole body weight rather than ur arms.... Just dont do like i saw a western express driver do and stand on the end of the bar and tighten it with ur face directly over the end of the bar....unless u want to relocate ur facefarmerjohn64, Coffey, beastr123 and 3 others Thank this. -
