Quick overview of my situation. I am looking to get my CDL A and was planning to go to a company sponsored program within the next month. However I have had a family situation come up that requires my attention for an indefinite amount of time and I don't feel it would be best to commit to a company program and then have to leave if something would come up.

So in an effort to move forward with getting a CDL I am considering a local CDL school, and then hopefully finding something local or even regional. Now I've done a fair bit of research and I'm getting the feeling that could be difficult without at least a year of experience.

I am simple looking for some advice regarding the best course of action I could take here and figured it couldn't hurt to reach out.

    That's a good plan.
Local and regional jobs are available for new cdl school grads, but that depends on the city/town you live in or near.
Having all the endorsements also helps, so get them all.

Thank you the response! I live a little east of Harrisburg, PA. Browsed through some jobs boards for the area. There is a few companies taking new grads. I think I will contact the school in the next week and go from there. I will be sure to get all the endorsements as well.

This company hires new cdl grads. Several drivers on this forum went to various terminals right out of cdl school.
Sometimes you just have to apply if the website is vague or says experience needed.

I used to work on the dock for A. Duie Pyle several years ago, didn't realize they had a program. I will definitely be looking into that. I'll put a list together of companies that potentially hire out of school and add those suggestions to it. Could save some time when the day comes. Again, I appreciate your input.

Having once worked for A. Duie Pyle will probably benefit you for being accepted into their school or maybe "dock to driver" program.
Harrisburg is a good location; you won't have any problem finding a good job.
